There is no verbal description that can show the artistry, talent, and vision of golf artist Anthony Ravielli any better than to carefully observe the two pictures below.

[wpcol_1half id=”” class=”” style=””]The photo at left is a self portrait of the artist Anthony Ravielli. Talk about a double take. This was taken in the artists studio/home in CT.[/wpcol_1half] [wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””]The photo at right is an image from Ben Hogan’s 5 Lessons. It is one of the last illustrations in the book, and probably the last ones Ravielli did.[/wpcol_1half_end]

It seems that this illustration was requested after the photo shoot took place, so Ravielli had no photo to use as a reference. No problem for this inventive artist. Usually, if you compare the photo vs. the drawing it was made into, there is an astounding precision to the artists recreation of the image. In this case, Ravielli had no photo so he improvised. He posed himself to get the anatomical correctness that he demanded. Then he used his artistic expertise and recent experience to accurately depict Ben Hogan in the same pose. Amazing.
